A Peace of my Mind

Exploring the meaning of peace, one story at a time

The world is filled with discouraging news.  Turn on any news station or read through any newspaper...and you will find stories of war, violence and despair.  It’s true around the world and in our own homes.

Too often we are asked to look at what separates us...whether it is religion, politics or culture...I believe it is vital that we spend time looking at our similarities...to find the common humanity that connects us.

Peace grows from the bottom up, not the top down.  If we wait for our political leaders to get us there, it will never happen.  But it is not an unattainable goal.  The world can change in small but important ways...and it begins with each of us, every day.  Like many things, it starts with a conversation, and that’s what you’ll find here.

A Peace of My Mind is a place to share ideas...a place to share our thoughts about what peace means to us in our lives and how we work toward it.  It’s a place to begin to understand one another a little better, and to build bridges that can help us all come together.

Peace is not about everyone believing the same thing, and it’s not about everyone doing the same thing.  It’s about making room for different ideas to thrive and believing that we can all gain from understanding one another better.  It’s that simple.  So explore the site and hear what others have to say.  Spend some time considering peace and see what it does for your mind, your heart and your life.

“Peace has to be created, in order to be maintained. It is the product of Faith, Strength, Energy, Will, Sympathy, Justice, Imagination, and the triumph of principle. It will never be achieved by passivity and quietism.”           Dorothy Thompson
